Co-op Academy Walkden

Co-op Academy Walkden has almost 1500 students aged 11-16. Their academy focuses on academic success underpinned by outstanding careers support and extracurricular activities, building the whole person. As part of the Co-op Academy Trust, they have strong support and are underpinned by co-operative values.

The academy aims to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the future. A wide range of extracurricular opportunities are available, including sports, the arts, and the Combined Cadets and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, helping students become well-rounded individuals.

With a focus on high standards and a sense of care and support, Co-op Academy Walkden ensures that all students are given the best possible chances for success, both in education and beyond.

Ofsted Report

Co-op Academy Walkden was rated ‘Good’ in all areas in its May 2023 Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors praised the academy’s inclusive environment, high aspirations, and strong relationships between staff, pupils, and families. Behaviour was commended as calm and focused, with minimal disruption to lessons.

The ambitious curriculum, offering a wide range of academic and vocational subjects, is delivered by expert teachers who support pupils in achieving their potential. Leaders were recognised for creating a safe, considerate, and motivated school community where all pupils, including those with SEND, thrive.
