Help Shape the Future of a Specialist School Community

We’re excited to be recruiting full‑time SEN Learning & Care Assistants (8.45-3.45) to join our partnered school as we continue to grow and strengthen our provision for pupils with complex needs.

Briarwood School is an Ofsted Outstanding specialist provider known for exceptional care, a highly skilled staff team, and a deeply inclusive ethos. With multiple sites across Bristol, we offer a nurturing, creative environment where pupils with profound, severe, and complex needs can thrive.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated, compassionate team supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs, including PMLD, SLD, ASC and complex medical or sensory needs. Your role will be central to helping pupils develop communication, independence, emotional regulation, and life skills – celebrating every small step along the way.

About the Role

As an SEN Learning & Care Assistant, you will:

  • Provide personalised support to pupils with complex needs

  • Assist with communication, sensory programmes, and structured routines

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Deliver high‑quality personal care with dignity and respect

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and specialist staff

  • Help create a safe, joyful, and engaging learning environment

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience supporting individuals with disabilities (desirable, not essential)

  • Is confident working with pupils who may display behaviours that challenge

  • Can provide 1:1 or 2:1 support where needed

  • Is comfortable with personal care

  • Brings warmth, patience, and resilience

  • Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to teamwork

  • Wants to learn, grow, and develop specialist SEN skills

What We Offer

  • A welcoming, supportive team with strong values

  • Excellent training and development, including Team Teach, communication approaches, sensory integration and more

  • Opportunities to work across different specialist sites

  • Clear guidance, mentoring, and ongoing professional support

  • A school culture that prioritises wellbeing, inclusion, and positive relationships

If you’re passionate about supporting children with complex needs and want to be part of a school where every day truly matters, we’d love to hear from you. Part‑time roles are also available.

Apply now and help shape the future of Briarwood’s specialist community.
