Role Overview

As a Midday Supervisor, you will play an important part in supporting the school’s lunchtime provision. You will help ensure pupils enjoy a safe, happy, and well‑managed lunchtime, both in the dining hall and on the playground. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with children and contributing to a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise pupils during the lunch period, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

  • Support pupils in the dining hall, including helping younger children with opening food items, encouraging good table manners, and promoting healthy eating.

  • Oversee playground activities, encouraging positive play, inclusion, and social interaction.

  • Manage minor behaviour issues in line with the school’s behaviour policy, promoting kindness and respect.

  • Respond calmly and appropriately to any incidents, accidents, or first‑aid needs (training can be provided).

  • Ensure all areas used during lunchtime are left clean, tidy, and safe.

  • Communicate effectively with teaching and support staff regarding any concerns or incidents.

  • Act as a positive role model, fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Enjoys working with children and supporting their wellbeing.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

  • Friendly, calm, and confident in managing groups of children.

  • Able to follow safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety procedures.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or childcare setting.

  • Understanding of positive behaviour strategies.
