SEMH Mentor

Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
£90 - £130 per day
SEND
Contract

Do you believe that behaviour is communication?
Are you driven to support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn?

We are seeking a committed, resilient SEMH Mentor to join a specialist provision within the Cabot Learning Federation, supporting pupils who need strong relationships, consistency, and a trauma‑informed approach to reach their potential.

This is a highly rewarding role where your ability to build trust, remain calm, and model positive behaviour will have a lasting impact on pupils’ lives.

The Role

As an SEMH Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement throughout the school day
  • Implement trauma‑informed, relational and restorative approaches
  • Act as a consistent, trusted adult for pupils who may struggle with boundaries and routine
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and leadership teams
  • Support individual behaviour plans and contribute to positive outcomes

This role is ideal for someone who understands that relationships come first, and that progress may be measured in small but meaningful steps.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Can remain calm, reflective and confident in high‑pressure situations
  • Is proactive, emotionally resilient and solution‑focused
  • Understands the importance of consistency, structure and empathy
  • Is committed to safeguarding and positive child‑centred practice

Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, care, mental health or therapeutic settings is highly desirable.
