We are seeking a committed and resilient Outreach Mentor to support young people within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school setting in Bristol.

This is a highly impactful role, working with students who may face challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in education. You will primarily support students through outreach and community-based work, helping them re-engage with education and build positive futures.

The provision delivers a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic approach for students who have faced barriers in mainstream education. As an Outreach Mentor, you will play a vital role in building trust, improving confidence, and supporting long-term engagement.


Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Engagement

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and targeted support for students with SEMH needs
  • Build strong, consistent relationships to improve engagement, attendance, and wellbeing
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, independence, and respect
  • Support students in accessing education both on-site and off-site

Behaviour & Intervention

  • Support and deliver individual behaviour and outreach support plans
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using calm, consistent strategies
  • Deliver interventions focused on emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and life skills
  • Track and report on progress and engagement

Outreach & Community-Based Work

  • Deliver support in community settings, alternative provisions, and schools
  • Travel regularly to provide consistent off-site mentoring and intervention
  • Support reintegration, transitions, and maintaining placements
  • Accompany young people on enrichment and off-site activities
  • Work closely with families, schools, and external agencies to ensure holistic support

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Is confident working independently in community and outreach settings
  • Can build trust and positive relationships quickly
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and resilient
  • Is passionate about helping young people achieve positive outcomes

A full UK driving licence is essential (regular outreach travel required)
