SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Reading
Job Type: Flexible Supply / Long‑Term / Temp‑to‑Perm
Pay: Competitive, paid weekly

Affinity Workforce is working in partnership with a primary school and Multi Academy Trust in Reading, and we are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs.

We have a high demand for staff, offering both flexible day‑to‑day work and longer‑term placements. Whether you’re looking for immediate shifts, 1:1 support roles, or something more consistent, we can help find the right opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 or small‑group basis
  • Assisting pupils with learning, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs to follow EHCPs and support plans
  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and positive behaviour
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (essential)
  • Experience in a school or educational setting (preferred)
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach
  • Reliability and strong communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
