Are you a detail-oriented professional who thrives in an office environment? Do you have a passion for maintaining high standards? We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Compliance Officer to join our team in Birmingham on a fixed term contract. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing regulatory compliance, managing risk, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures in a friendly and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

· Checking new files are correctly completed, ensuring evidence provided is appropriate, effectively maintained and monitored
· Advising consultants in relation to actions to obtain effective compliance documentation and evidence including identifying why files have been rejected and what work needs to be done before the candidates can be cleared for work
· Monitoring candidates due to expire, pre-empting and gaining further documents as necessary
· Monitoring the Compliance Team inbox, dealing with any requests that fall within this role
· Auditing files (including following up any mistakes with consultants -granting extensions where necessary to get files completed to standard)
· Checking DBS Update Service, logging results and contacting DBS for queries and guidance as necessary
· Scanning files and documents for online storage
· Ensuring all tasks are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible and always within 24 hour deadline
· Working to set KPIs in relation to productivity and performance

The ideal candidate will:

· Be diligent in checking details
· Have experience of pre-employment checks and vetting candidates to be placed in school or childcare settings, including judging whether references are sufficient
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Have good IT skills, including using a database and all aspects of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
· Be able to organise their own workload to meet deadlines
· Hold relevant qualifications, or be able to demonstrate significant office based experience
