5 Days per Week | No Teaching Required | Secondary School Laboratory
We are seeking a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a busy secondary school science department from 23rd February. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting the smooth running of the school laboratories and assisting teaching staff with practical lesson preparation. No teaching is required.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience, a scientific background, or a keen interest in supporting science education in a hands-on, practical role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for science practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- Ensure laboratories, prep rooms and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
- Manage resources, including organising stock, ordering supplies and monitoring inventory.
- Safely handle, store and dispose of chemicals and biological materials in line with school and safety regulations.
- Assist teaching staff with demonstrations and practical lesson support (non-teaching).
- Maintain a safe working environment, including regular equipment checks and adherence to all health and safety procedures.
- Support with the organisation of science events, clubs or activities when required.
Requirements
- Experience working in a lab environment (school or industry) preferred.
- Strong understanding of lab safety procedures and safe chemical handling.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a science department team.
