SEMH Teaching Assistant

Are you enthusiastic about supporting the mental health and well-being of children and young people? Our partnered school, based in Weston-super-Mare, is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as SEMH Teaching Assistants. We are seeking practitioners to support pupils who have an EHCP in the age range of 5-11 years old.

About the school: Our partnered school is a specialised educational institution dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for children who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Our mission is to re-engage these young individuals with education through innovative and creative approaches, fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth.

Role Requirements: We are seeking individuals with diverse talents and backgrounds, including but not limited to:

• Must have SEMH experience.
• Experience supporting individuals who find it difficult to build social and emotional relationships.
• Individuals who have faced and overcome personal challenges, as your ability to connect and relate to our children on a deeper level is highly valued.
• Passion and the ability to inspire are the most crucial attributes.
• A driving license is essential, and candidates will need to have or be able to obtain business insurance. This is for transportation of pupils or outreach e.g activities that leave the school site.

What You’ll Do:

• Work 5 days a week (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM) in an engaging, hands-on role, sharing your skills and passions to positively impact children.
• Inspire, mentor, and support children who have been excluded from their schools, helping them re-engage with education and thrive.
• Run activities with pupils outside the classroom, taking them out in the community for outreach and running activities with them. Mileage will be paid for these journeys.
• Provide support alongside other mentors and teachers to ensure the right support is in place for the students.

**It is essential that you can drive, have access to your own vehicle and have business insurance on your car for this role as you will be required to collect and drop of the student to their home every day. Mileage will be paid**
