Be part of something brand new.

Our partnered school is a brand‑new specialist SEN school opening this May in Knowle West, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable HLTA’s to join the founding classroom team.

This is a unique chance to help shape a new provision created by an Ofsted Outstanding setting known for its exceptional practice and supportive ethos. To help you settle into the role, we’re ideally looking for someone who can begin at their site in Fishponds for hands‑on training before moving to the new school.

About the Role

As an SEN HLTA in the classroom, you’ll play a key role in supporting pupils with complex needs through a highly personalised, developmental curriculum. Instead of traditional secondary subjects, pupils follow programmes focused on communication, independence, sensory regulation, life skills, and meaningful learning experiences tailored to their individual profiles.

You’ll work closely with teachers to deliver engaging, accessible sessions and ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive. You’ll also step into classes when required, helping maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment.

Your role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils through a personalised SEN curriculum focused on communication, independence, sensory needs, and life skills

  • Leading small‑group and 1:1 learning activities tailored to individual developmental levels

  • Providing high‑quality classroom cover when needed

  • Adapting approaches creatively to suit a wide range of complex needs

  • Using visual supports, communication aids, and sensory strategies to enhance engagement

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and wider staff to ensure consistent, holistic support

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils through warmth, patience, and clear communication

  • Helping shape routines, expectations, and culture within a brand‑new school environment

This role suits someone who is calm, creative, and passionate about helping pupils access meaningful, personalised learning every day.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN

  • Confidence working with complex needs, sensory profiles, and varied communication styles

  • Strong classroom practice and the ability to lead learning independently

  • Flexible, positive, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs

  • Enthusiastic about contributing to a brand‑new school community

  • Passionate about inclusion, personalised learning, and pupil wellbeing

(HLTA qualification is welcome but not essential – strong experience is equally valued.)

Why Join Through Affinity Partnerships

  • Competitive pay and generous referral bonuses

  • Access to excellent CPD, including Team Teach and Trauma‑Informed Practice

  • Support from a dedicated consultant who knows the school well

  • Opportunities to work across multiple specialist sites

  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional growth

  • Weekly pay and a smooth, supportive onboarding process
