Affinity Workforce is working in partnership with a primary school in Reading, and we are currently recruiting an experienced and committed SENCO Unit Lead to lead and develop two SEND units within the school.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a qualified SENCO / QTS Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and has the expertise to drive high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs. The role is available for an immediate start, with potential for long-term or permanent placement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing two SEND units within the primary setting
  • Overseeing the delivery of high-quality, tailored teaching and learning for pupils with SEND
  • Acting as the school’s SENCO, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Developing and implementing EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Supporting, mentoring, and managing staff within the SEND provision
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Monitoring pupil progress, attainment, and wellbeing
  • Promoting an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive learning environment
  • Ensuring high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or SENCO qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience working with pupils with SEND (essential)
  • Leadership or management experience within a school or SEND setting (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
  • A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
