A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bristol is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team from September. This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils with a high level of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about inclusion and committed to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEND needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, and external agencies to implement individual support plans.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet pupils’ individual needs.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social development.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Record and monitor pupil progress and contribute to review meetings.
  • Support pupils during lessons, playtimes, transitions, and other aspects of the school day.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence wherever possible.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience, and a caring approach.
  • Has a good understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, or other complex learning needs.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Is flexible, proactive, and able to respond to the changing needs of pupils.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

We Can Offer:

  • A supportive and welcoming staff team.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic pupils who are eager to learn.
  • Ongoing professional development and SEND training opportunities.
  • Strong leadership support and a collaborative working environment.
  • A school community committed to inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children’s lives every day.
