About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Keynsham. This role will have a strong focus on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Alongside providing targeted support for pupils with additional needs, the successful candidate will also deliver and support small group interventions across a range of subjects, helping pupils to develop key academic, social, and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans.
- Deliver small group interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and independence.
- Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Build strong and supportive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children in a primary school setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEND, including a range of additional learning needs.
- Experience delivering targeted interventions or small group support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH needs.
- Understanding of strategies that support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Previous intervention experience, including literacy or numeracy programmes.
