Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs?

We are seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school community in South Bristol from September 2026.

About the Role

This is a full-time, temporary position supporting a pupil with additional needs on a 1:1 basis. The role is dependent on external funding and will continue in line with the needs of the child.

You will play a vital role in helping this pupil access learning, develop independence, and feel safe, supported, and valued within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to meet the pupil’s individual needs
  • Assist the class teacher with adapting learning activities
  • Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals

  • Has experience working with children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with children
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to inclusion
