About the Role

We are looking for a caring, patient, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school in South Bristol from September 2026.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

This role may involve working on a 1:1 basis or supporting small groups across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support for pupils with a range of SEND needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
  • Assist in the delivery of personalised learning programmes
  • Support pupils both in and outside the classroom
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Help adapt classroom activities to meet individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCo, and external professionals
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • A willingness to learn and engage in professional development

(Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential)
