We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Central Bristol from September, on a long-term, ongoing basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people reach their full potential in a supportive educational environment.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals. You will play a vital role in promoting positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Encouraging independence, engagement, and participation within the classroom
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
  • Assisting with behaviour management and implementing individual support strategies
  • Creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (school-based experience desirable but not essential)
  • Is patient, compassionate, and resilient
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting student development
  • Holds a relevant qualification or training in education, childcare, or SEND support (advantageous)
