Are you passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities?

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join the specialist Resource Base within one of a small number of primary schools in South Gloucestershire offering specialist provision for primary-aged pupils with additional needs.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work within a well-established and nurturing specialist setting, supporting children to thrive academically, socially and emotionally through personalised learning and targeted intervention.

As part of The Leaf Trust, our school is committed to ensuring every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. From September 2026, the Trust will be working exclusively with Affinity Partnerships, further strengthening opportunities to attract, develop and retain exceptional educational professionals across our schools.

About the Role

Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you will provide tailored support for pupils within our specialist Resource Base, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, build confidence and achieve meaningful progress.

You will work collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals, therapists, families and external agencies to create an environment where every child feels safe, understood and empowered to succeed.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who is adaptable, resilient and passionate about inclusive education.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience of supporting children with SEND, ideally within a specialist, resource base or inclusion setting.
  • Understands the diverse needs of children with additional learning, communication and developmental needs.
  • Can develop positive, supportive and professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Is patient, empathetic and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is proactive, reflective and willing to engage in ongoing professional learning.
  • Shares our commitment to inclusion, high expectations and child-centred practice.

We Offer:

  • The opportunity to work in one of South Gloucestershire’s specialist primary Resource Bases.
  • A highly supportive and experienced SEND team.
  • Access to high-quality professional development and specialist training.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across The Leaf Trust.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day.
  • A welcoming, inclusive and values-driven school community.
